Welcome to the forum whiskey. I'm not sure if I like Branch. Word is he's kind of soft, but who knows?

He does have some negatives but also the ability to play OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

When did Gilmore from SC become a first round pick? Granted, I haven't followed the player rankings this year very well, but I thought he was rated for about #40 on most boards.

One thing I think we can all agree on, this year looks like a weak draft - at least in the first round.

Interesting mock WR

I can't imagine the Packers passing on Cox if he is there, though I also can't imagine Cox falling out of the top 15 much less the 1st round..

Your guys at 7, 8 and 9 I expect to go much lower.

He has the ability to provide a strong inside pass rush and also is solid against the run.

You can say that about a number of guys. Why Still and not other guys like Worthy or Reyes for example? Is this a prediction or a preference?

I'm firmly in the Ol camp. Still is my pick too. I saw him play some outstanding football this past year and I think he will be a very good pro. I would not mind seeing McClellin at 28, but I'm a little surprised he wasn't stronger on the bench. 18 or 19 reps are WR numbers.

At 59 I'd love to see Lamichael James. A true home run threat in the backfield would make the offense even more explosive. At 90, I sort of like Terrell Manning, OLB from NC State. He's supposed to be very athletic. And at 132 I think Michael Brewster, a center from OSU would be a great pick. I heard him interviewed on Sirius NFL the other day and he really seemed like a good kid. Smart and a great attitude. He's big too, and started something like 48 straight games. They asked him who was the toughest DL he played against in the big ten, Worthy or Still. He said while they were both good players, the DL who was the hardest to play against was Mike Martin from Michigan.

Does anyone see Martin turning into an NFL starter? I like the guy as a prospect, but still see him as a rotational player on the line. The Michigan program has definately lost it's luster the last few years; any thoughts on how there guys turn out as pros?

The guy I'm going to follow closly this year at camp is CJ Wilson. I could see him turning into a starter via his third season ala Johnny Jolly or I can see him getting cut if he makes another slow start like he has his first two seasons.

Michigan guys seem to hit about the same as other big ten schools which is pretty good. The defensive line guys, particularly those who like Worthy don't have a consistent motor , don't do so well.

I agree Wilson is a key guy. He's got some ability and seems to work at it, so he could have a breakthrough.

I agree he would add something we don't have but MM has repeatedly said he likes big backs and going back to Ron Wolf, they haven't drafted any scatback types. .

Brewster - "DL who was the hardest to play against was Mike Martin from Michigan."
I can believe that. Martin gave Bucky and Konz fits too. The kid practiced against Molk all the time and seemed to love driving bigger C's nuts.

Re: "scatback types"
Some posters at JSO are probably still lamenting Tyrell Sutton getting cut a couple of years ago. 'GJ85' over there about popped a grape at the time. I like L. James as well, HB, just wouldn't want the Pack to take him unless he falls to the 4th Rd., though.

lutzz, you're starting to worry me with all the WR mentions. I can just see TT taking 2-3 of them when it's about the last thing I hope to see. And I like WR's as much as the next guy mind you.

denver, Wr and interior OL are the positions with the best depth this year IMO.

Face it, it's a bad draft for what we need. There are a lot of DL but most are 4/3 guys. DBs seem to mostly be small or slow or have character concerns. Most of the OLB/pass rushers are conversion guys and the history is not good for those guys. In general pass rushers have the biggest bust factor.

That's why I'm starting to warm to McClellin in the first. He has the least upside but also the least downside.

Hey denver, I was not one of the Tyrell Sutton lovers. The main difference is that Sutton was a small slow guy, while James is a smallish back with speed. I doubt he makes it out of the 3rd round, maybe not even the second. He's probably not a TT or MM type of back.

I think they are more likely to take Polk in the 4th if he's there.

At this point, I really like Shea McClellin, Boise State for the Packers. The guy has some skills as a pass rusher and could turn into a productive rusher in Capers offense.

But what really impresses me is he can cover. Hawk and Bishop lack cover skills. I don't Zombo and Walden ever offering much in coverage. McClellin turns an area of complete liability with the LB core into are more productive unit.

This might be a JV pipe dream, but I would love to see the Packers use Jones as a MLB for third and long situations - similar to the role Chillar played in the Packers D.

Are you ever going to give reasons for your picks or are you going to just throw out names? What's fun about this group is that we research and defend our statements. It's called dialogue.
Why did you decide to join our little group if not for the dialogue?

Why indeed? Sort of like the kid who pissed everyone off in Jr. High. Then he tried to rehabilitate himself in high school, but it was too late. My favorite quote was "Dick Clark was known as America's oldest teenager according to my dad." Now that's just priceless.
